Check that your asset qualifies
Security rules are specific to the product. For a vehicle, check the lender's requirements for its age, value, ownership and condition, plus any insurance requirements. A result matching your amount and term does not confirm the lender will accept your asset.
Buying a car? Set the purpose first
Select Car purchase to narrow the results to products with known vehicle uses. Some secured personal loans have other purposes or asset restrictions, so security alone does not make them suitable for a car purchase.
You can also compare unsecured personal loans that allow car purchases. Those do not pledge the car as security.
Compare the quote, fees and conditions
Use the same amount and term. Check the interest rate, comparison rate, upfront fees, ongoing charges and early payout conditions. Confirm any costs associated with the security and whether extra repayments are allowed.
The personal loan calculator can help you test repayments using the rate and known fees.
Weigh the saving against the asset risk
A lower advertised rate is only one part of the decision. Consider how repayments would fit if your income fell or other costs rose. Providing security does not guarantee approval: the lender still assesses your finances.
Review the document checklist and confirm what evidence it needs about the asset.
